JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF: what to choose?
JPG / JPEG
A practical choice for photographs and other images where a smaller file size is more important than transparency.
PNG
Useful when you need transparency or lossless output. The quality slider does not reduce PNG quality.
WebP
A modern web image format that can provide smaller files for many photos and graphics.
GIF files can be selected as input, but canvas-based resizing creates a still-image output rather than preserving animation. If you need an animated GIF to remain animated, use a dedicated animated-image tool.
Are images uploaded?
ResizeHero processes selected images in the browser. The current tool uses browser APIs to decode the image and create the resized output locally. The page does not send the selected image file to a ResizeHero processing server.

How do I resize an image online for free?

Can I resize a photo without stretching it?
Yes. Keep “Keep each image’s aspect ratio” enabled. The tool calculates the other dimension from each image’s original proportions.

Can I reduce image file size?

Will an animated GIF stay animated?
